What you will find and why you are here

Welcome to Sweet Bottom Sewing Company - Celebrating a life made simpler by sewing! For a while now, family and friends have asked me to post photos of the things I have made or can make so they could share them with their friends. What started out as a necessity, sewing, has become a great love and hobby and remains a constant adventure. I don't really follow patterns, I just have a feel for something and go with it. From bedding and window treatments to fun applique shirts and monogrammed towels, everything is done with love. Check out the Photo Galleries links below (on the left) to see more of my fun stuff! My FaceBook page is filled with albums of photos of custom orders of shirts, baby gifts, draperies and monogramming ideas.

You won't find just sewing stuff here either. It's become much more than that. Sweetbottom has become a part of our lives and that life is getting put down on the screen right alongside the flags and onesie dresses. Welcome Y'all.

Updating and Organizing

I finally got a chance to sit down an upload and organize my last few months of sewing projects. What a chore - but I feel such a sense of accomplishment once I get through. Here are just a few photos of the things that I have recently completed. Take a look at more of my custom creations in the photo album (link) down on the left. You can also find me on Facebook at "Sweet Bottom Sewing Company".

Warm Weather Clothing

Ahhhhhhh.....Summer time! The fresh green grass, blooming trees, the lawns filled with azaleas, tulips and hydrangeas. There is nothing like Summer in the South. As soon as the thermometer hits 65 degrees, we break out the flip flops and seersucker. Sure it may be a sterotyopical thing for us to do but I'll let you in on a little secret.......Southerners don't like cold! We live for the summer months where the hot sticky summer air forces you to the shade of an old tree and the comfort of a ice cold glass of lemonade. Fishing in the stream, swinging on a tire swing, catching fireflies in a mason jar... Bring it on! I'm ready - are you? These new sets are just perfect for the hot weather headed our way. Embroidered with some classic initials or a beach critter, this new Jon Jon can be made reversible with two coordinating fabrics!

Happy Birthday William and Natalie!

Made this set for for an old friend for her two Birthday kiddos this weekend. I was tickled with the coordinnating fabric I found that would accomodate both a boys and a girls shirt. In the end, I had to cut out so much of the pink and yellow of the stripe you couldn't tell it was a set. Still, turned out cute and Natalie was pleased. Alls well......... Happy Spring to you all!

Spring Spring Spring (part 2)...

I love Spring and the freshness and warmth it brings along with it. I have been sampling for a WAHM digitizer a little lately and the first photo above is a recent addition to her offerings. You can find all her great designs at http://www.appliquemarket.com/ . The other cute shirts are for a recent Easter order for my dear HS friend Mary and some "happys" she had me make for her sons friends. I really hope they all like their new Spring shirts.

Spring Spring Spring!!!

After a dreadfully cold week in Colorado Springs last week, I returned home to the realism's of my mommydome, snot and poop. All three boys down with a stomach bug and pitifully sick. I would give up my own health and wellbeing any day so my babies wouldn't have to suffer. But luckily, we've turned the corner and tummies are returning back to normal. Let us look to spring! Slightly above normal temps here at home have us longing for spring colors and blooming trees...Check back for a few of the custom orders I've been sampling.

and a Happy New Year to you All!

Thankfully - the holidays are behind us now. Not that I am a holiday hater or anything like that, just that the new year gives us all the opportunity to start with a fresh new outlook on things. I don't make resolutions per see' more like little personal modifications to mind, body and spirit. I want to approach this year not with a "what went wrong" attitude but more with a "let's learn from this and move forward" point of view.

To keep in the spirit of things, Sweet bottom is going to move forward too.

"Sweet Bottom", baby Dylan, is growing up so fast and proving to be a quick and handsy little booger. At 1 year he was over 28lbs and wearing the same size diapers his big brother (at age 3) wore this summer! He is such a happy little thing and both the boys bring joy to me each and every day. Thats one modification I want to focus on this year, appreciate "my gifts" more for what they are - Gifts!

"Sweet Bottom" the sewing company will hopefully move forward and grow too. I really want to introduce new things this year to my friends and customers, whom I love so. Maybe some fresh a-line dresses in pastel ginghams and crisp seersucker or some super cute Jon Jons for a brother /sister Easter Bunny photo. Or shorts and capris to match some of the adorable new applique T's for spring and summer.

Whatever your new year brings you, I hope it's everything you wish it to be. An remember to come back often for some Sweet Bottom Tee's!

Wrapping up!

I am attempting to wrap up all my Christmas orders this week so I can concentrate on shopping and "gift making/creating" next week (on my week off). PreK-3 Class Christmas parties and School programs later this week are making for a very hectic schedule.

I really appreciate all the support, encouragement and interest in my artwork and clothing over the past year and hope that next year will be even more fun. Thanks to you all and keep bringing me your wonderful ideas and creative projects to help out with.

Hauling gifts to Grandma's

Another cute brother / sister set for the Derrick's. This cute coordinating shirt set is done in royal blue cord and bows with matching stacks of gifts. These can be done in any combination of colors choices. Ryley just happened to have a pair of red and white striped pants she wanted to wear and I was able to find some fabric to match! Now they are ready for those cute Christmas candids.

Birthday Boy

After accepting the fact that both my children will be forever challenged with birthdays that fall on holidays. My first was due on Labor Day but born on the day after. "Little punkin" here is a Thanksgiving baby in every sense of the word Thanksgiving. He is a little Turkey. Convenience is the theme of my life right now, I am "borrowing" fall theme decorations for his BIG Pumpkin celebration. I made this hat to match his birthday cord overalls.

Happy Birthday Dylan. For you we are thankful.

Here comes Santa Claus.....

Here comes Santa Claus....... I love these matching brother Santa shirts I did for the boys. I decided to be as proactive this year as possible and get Santa photos done EARLY! We went on Thanksgiving eve and you know what - not a single person in line. Got lots of face time with the big man and found out what my three year old wants......a helicopter! These would be cute on green and black shirts too. LongSleeve $12, Turtlenecks $15. Get them for your holiday family photo today.

Gearing up for (gulp) Christmas

I have had lots and lots of fun these past few weeks making the Halloween tees and fun harvest themed shirts. Reece and Dylan actually have Fall pictures at pre-school tomorrow and Friday so, I have been frantically preparing two sets of "picture" clothing for them to wear these next couple of days. Tomorrow is individual and classroom shots while Friday is Sibling photo day. We'll see how cooperative Reece is at taking a pic with baby bubba. He's kinda anti-pics right now especially with ones where Dylan is involved.

Anyway, I have been out shopping for and preparing fabrics for my holiday and Christmas applique designs. There are soooo many cute, colorful and interesting options for fabric combinations to play with. I have to admit....think I have a fabric hoarding problem. This year I have decided to think outside the sewing hoop and try to work with color combinations that aren't traditional Christmas red and green. I can't wait to start sewing these samples out and see what you think!

Oh and not to mention that I have had to pull a Mickey Mouse costume out of thin air for next week. :-)

Tonight....a night off - Wicked here we come!

Happy 1'st Birthday Joe Michael!

Happy Birthday Little Prince! Our dear friends Joe and Stacey asked me to do a shirt for little Joe's first Birthday next weekend. She showed me the invitation and said she wanted "something with a crown". Luckily I found this applique design from Applique Frenzy. I was able to make a duplicate of the design of the invitation.
