What you will find and why you are here

Welcome to Sweet Bottom Sewing Company - Celebrating a life made simpler by sewing! For a while now, family and friends have asked me to post photos of the things I have made or can make so they could share them with their friends. What started out as a necessity, sewing, has become a great love and hobby and remains a constant adventure. I don't really follow patterns, I just have a feel for something and go with it. From bedding and window treatments to fun applique shirts and monogrammed towels, everything is done with love. Check out the Photo Galleries links below (on the left) to see more of my fun stuff! My FaceBook page is filled with albums of photos of custom orders of shirts, baby gifts, draperies and monogramming ideas.

You won't find just sewing stuff here either. It's become much more than that. Sweetbottom has become a part of our lives and that life is getting put down on the screen right alongside the flags and onesie dresses. Welcome Y'all.

Wrapping up!

I am attempting to wrap up all my Christmas orders this week so I can concentrate on shopping and "gift making/creating" next week (on my week off). PreK-3 Class Christmas parties and School programs later this week are making for a very hectic schedule.

I really appreciate all the support, encouragement and interest in my artwork and clothing over the past year and hope that next year will be even more fun. Thanks to you all and keep bringing me your wonderful ideas and creative projects to help out with.

Hauling gifts to Grandma's

Another cute brother / sister set for the Derrick's. This cute coordinating shirt set is done in royal blue cord and bows with matching stacks of gifts. These can be done in any combination of colors choices. Ryley just happened to have a pair of red and white striped pants she wanted to wear and I was able to find some fabric to match! Now they are ready for those cute Christmas candids.

Birthday Boy

After accepting the fact that both my children will be forever challenged with birthdays that fall on holidays. My first was due on Labor Day but born on the day after. "Little punkin" here is a Thanksgiving baby in every sense of the word Thanksgiving. He is a little Turkey. Convenience is the theme of my life right now, I am "borrowing" fall theme decorations for his BIG Pumpkin celebration. I made this hat to match his birthday cord overalls.

Happy Birthday Dylan. For you we are thankful.

Here comes Santa Claus.....

Here comes Santa Claus....... I love these matching brother Santa shirts I did for the boys. I decided to be as proactive this year as possible and get Santa photos done EARLY! We went on Thanksgiving eve and you know what - not a single person in line. Got lots of face time with the big man and found out what my three year old wants......a helicopter! These would be cute on green and black shirts too. LongSleeve $12, Turtlenecks $15. Get them for your holiday family photo today.

Gearing up for (gulp) Christmas

I have had lots and lots of fun these past few weeks making the Halloween tees and fun harvest themed shirts. Reece and Dylan actually have Fall pictures at pre-school tomorrow and Friday so, I have been frantically preparing two sets of "picture" clothing for them to wear these next couple of days. Tomorrow is individual and classroom shots while Friday is Sibling photo day. We'll see how cooperative Reece is at taking a pic with baby bubba. He's kinda anti-pics right now especially with ones where Dylan is involved.

Anyway, I have been out shopping for and preparing fabrics for my holiday and Christmas applique designs. There are soooo many cute, colorful and interesting options for fabric combinations to play with. I have to admit....think I have a fabric hoarding problem. This year I have decided to think outside the sewing hoop and try to work with color combinations that aren't traditional Christmas red and green. I can't wait to start sewing these samples out and see what you think!

Oh and not to mention that I have had to pull a Mickey Mouse costume out of thin air for next week. :-)

Tonight....a night off - Wicked here we come!

Happy 1'st Birthday Joe Michael!

Happy Birthday Little Prince! Our dear friends Joe and Stacey asked me to do a shirt for little Joe's first Birthday next weekend. She showed me the invitation and said she wanted "something with a crown". Luckily I found this applique design from Applique Frenzy. I was able to make a duplicate of the design of the invitation.

Pumpkin Family Photo

Looks like I'm out from under all the birthday shirts for a little while at least. I love all the business and the sweet little and BIG 1's and 2's I have been doing but it's time for a new project. I wanted to do a family of coordinating pumpkin themed shirts for our fall family photo and to celebrate my sweet little boy, Dylan's 1st birthday. I can't wait to get started on these this weekend. Check back to see if progress was made. I'm a little worried about the brown cord overalls being to snug. Suck in chunky monkey and say Cheese! Thanks to all of you who just had to have a BOO Y'all! shirt- Keep them coming.

Boo Y'all

Boo Y'all! I have been wanting to make this shirt since last Halloween season. I saw it on a Halloween wall decoration and thought it would be cute for Fall parties and running around. I don't get into the whole costume thing so this is about it for me. I've had a really busy weekend of sewing projects and lots and lots of Birthday Shirts. This boy color stripe just turned out great and I love the alternating letter colors.

Witches boots took a little practice especially since I was using the wrong thread at first but thats how you learn. Next up "a family of pumpkins" order for Fall family photos.

Pretty Patterns

To solve my husky issue, I searched the internet for variations on the typical John Jon design. I found one that might be the ticket if I can get up the nerve to tackle a real pattern.

The Children's Corner in Nashville, TN has a great selection of traditional clothing patterns for all sizes. Better yet most of them are lined. I found two rompers that have a little empire yoke area and then gather some to form the waist and leg.

Husky Sizes

You've all seen the pictures of my willing model, Dylan, and the inspiration for SweetBottom sewing. Last Friday evening, I attempted to squeeze my sweet little 24 pound 9 month old butterball into a cute seersucker embroidered Jon Jon. Let's just say, it was akin to trying to shove a king size pillow into a standard size pillow sham. Neither of us enjoyed the experience but it got me thinking......I can sew - make my own "husky" sized cotton dress John Jons and Long All's.

For those of you who don't know what these are, they are wardrobe stable for any little southern boy. Crisp cotton, gingham, seersucker summer fabrics or corduroy for the winter, these comfortable sleeveless outfits are a classic. But they don't come in husky sizes! I have always felt that adding Jon Jon / Long All offerings to my customers was essential for my online business. In due time! However, in my research for wholesale blank distributors, I have not been able to find a company that can provide these with a little "extra room" in the midsection.

Check back often to see my progress. If you know of any one who might need something like this , send em' my way.

Happy Third Birthday Reece!

For Reece's third birthday he asked for a Thomas Cake, a BIG Thomas cake. Against everything I believe in, I decided to make it a "theme" birthday and train up the house like the TV series. I made Reece had his very own Train Tee and a matching Balloon Tee for me. Happy Third Birthday my sweet little boy!

Twins!!!

These are for twin boys expected this Fall.
They will be picture perfect for Spring photos in these not so matching shortalls. I have to admit that I tried to talk the customer out of the chocolate orange combination but I am really pleased with how it turned out on the blue background.

Happy Belated Birthday Anthony!!!!

I know your Birthday has already past but this way you get to open MORE presents. We hope to see you really soon!

Customer Monogramming

I love how the monogramming turned out for these two precious little ones. They are both just as sweet as can be. The photographer, Shannon Payne, is moving to Nashville this month but will be continuing sessions here during the year. Check out her site here for other adorable photos at....

Celebrate your Teachers!

With the new "school" year beginning at our daycare, I made these cute and handy totes to show our teachers how much we love them!
