What you will find and why you are here

Welcome to Sweet Bottom Sewing Company - Celebrating a life made simpler by sewing! For a while now, family and friends have asked me to post photos of the things I have made or can make so they could share them with their friends. What started out as a necessity, sewing, has become a great love and hobby and remains a constant adventure. I don't really follow patterns, I just have a feel for something and go with it. From bedding and window treatments to fun applique shirts and monogrammed towels, everything is done with love. Check out the Photo Galleries links below (on the left) to see more of my fun stuff! My FaceBook page is filled with albums of photos of custom orders of shirts, baby gifts, draperies and monogramming ideas.

You won't find just sewing stuff here either. It's become much more than that. Sweetbottom has become a part of our lives and that life is getting put down on the screen right alongside the flags and onesie dresses. Welcome Y'all.

Husky Sizes

You've all seen the pictures of my willing model, Dylan, and the inspiration for SweetBottom sewing. Last Friday evening, I attempted to squeeze my sweet little 24 pound 9 month old butterball into a cute seersucker embroidered Jon Jon. Let's just say, it was akin to trying to shove a king size pillow into a standard size pillow sham. Neither of us enjoyed the experience but it got me thinking......I can sew - make my own "husky" sized cotton dress John Jons and Long All's.

For those of you who don't know what these are, they are wardrobe stable for any little southern boy. Crisp cotton, gingham, seersucker summer fabrics or corduroy for the winter, these comfortable sleeveless outfits are a classic. But they don't come in husky sizes! I have always felt that adding Jon Jon / Long All offerings to my customers was essential for my online business. In due time! However, in my research for wholesale blank distributors, I have not been able to find a company that can provide these with a little "extra room" in the midsection.

Check back often to see my progress. If you know of any one who might need something like this , send em' my way.

  1. Such a GREAT idea!!! where did you add the extra room? sides or front??

  2. I tried both ways. The front makes it lay kinda funny in the crotch area. Adding extra tothe side seams made a big difference for my little butterball.
